  8.   Hello!  WOW, was July ever a month

  10. to remember!  Particularly that last

  12. weekend.  From Thursday the 25th to

  14. Monday the 29th, I was in King of

  16. Prussia, PA. in the Sheraton Valley

  18. Forge Hotel and Convention Center, at
  19.  
  20. the MARCA Fair.  I met wonderful
  21.  
  22. people, saw wonderful things, and had
  23.  
  24. a wonderful time.  I'll tell you more
  25.  
  26. about it in 2 articles this month, one
  27.  
  28. for the COMALites and one for general
  29.  
  30. interest readers.
  31.  
  32.   Once again, there's a summary of
  33.  
  34. the weekly Thursday night "Let's talk
  35.  
  36. COMAL" get-togethers on PlayNET
  37.  
  38. ("COMAL PlayNotes").  This issue
  39.  
  40. covers the month of July. Because of
  41.  
  42. the Fair, I couldn't "attend" the
  43.  
  44. July 25 meeting.

  46.   As for programs, how about Conway's
  47.  
  48. Game of Life?  It is written in 0.14,
  49.  
  50. but is LISTed to disk so it can be en-
  51.  
  52. tered into 2.0.  It is COMAL Kernal-
  53.  
  54. compatible (assuming C64 text screen),
  55.  
  56. so no conversion is needed to enter it
  57.  
  58. into Version 2.0 (cartridge).  This
  59.  
  60. version of Conway's Life is unique in
  61.  
  62. that it uses the 64's Color Nybble
  63.  
  64. memory to keep track of how many
  65.  
  66. "neighbors" each cell has.  This re-
  67.  
  68. sults in a visible effect on the
  69.  
  70. screen as the program performs its
  71.  
  72. calculations! Be SURE to read the
  73.  
  74. ABOUT text before RUNning it!
  75.
